A common entrance exam conducted by CBSE to take admissions in various engineering and architectural colleges including 5 IIIT (Indian Institute of Information and Technology) and 30 NIT (National Institute of Technology) is named as AIEEE. This exam was first introduced in the year 2002. This exam is usually organized on the last Sunday of April and its result is declared in the Last week of May or first week of June. The AIR and SR scores are beneficial to get admissions in other engineering colleges. Two Papers are taken under this AIEEE examination : first for B.E/B.Tech courses and the other for B.Arch courses. Candidates can apply for any or for both the papers. The first Paper asks objective type questions from the 3 sections namely: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Four options are been given. There is negative marking in this Paper, ¼ th marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. These three sections carry equal weight-age. The second Paper asks objective type questions from the Aptitude, Mathematics and Drawing. In the Aptitude Paper, drawing based questions have been asked. Number of questions asked are variable all through these years. Three hours are given for each paper.

Students can apply online for this AIEEE EXAM and give this exam in both ways i.e. online and offline, as per their comfort. This exam is conducted in nearly 86 cities . The syllabus decided is based on the the CBSE syllabus of class 11th and 12th of all the three above mentioned subjects.

Candidates who have passed their 10 + 2 exam or its equivalent examination with an aggregate of 50% marks are eligible to appear for both in B.E And B.Arch. Exam. Candidates who are appearing for B.E UG course need to have Physics and Chemistry as their compulsory subjects in their 12th standard. And any one of the below mentioned subject as their optional subjects : Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer, Biology. And those who want to take admission in B.Arch. courses need to have just Mathematics as their compulsory subject in their 12th class. And Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Drawing , Computer Application and Biology as their optional subject.
