CLAT is a centralized exam organized by 14 National Law Schools/Universities to take admissions in their UG and PG degree programmes. These universities conduct the Clat Exam one by one in the order of their establishment. Like the first CLAT-2008 was organized by NLSUI, Bangalore on 11th May 2008 then next CLAT-2009 was organized by NALSAR, Hyderabad, CLAT-2010 by NLIU, Bhopal and so on. It means that year the all India Law exam would be conducted by that University. Before this common exam pattern, the first Law Entrance exam is conducted by National Law School of India University in 1987.
