Joint Management Entrance Exam or JMET is a prestigious entrance examination for the Post graduate Programs in Management. Through this examination, students can get admission in IISc and IITS. These programs are offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras and IISc Bangalore. JMET is a qualifying examination, and after that students need to apply to the participating institutes including the IIITS. Student can apply for more than one program. .
Once a candidate clears this examination, then he/she needs to face the Group discussion(GD) and Personal Interview(PI) at the Institute premises. The participating institutes follow an individual criteria for admission. Every year a good number of students get admitted through this entrance exam.
Eligibility for JMET :
·         Students who have completed their degree course are eligible for this Exam.
·         Final year students can also apply, but they need to submit their degree certificates on and before the date stipulated by the administrative authority of the Institute.
The essential information for the JMET Exam :
The JMET examination contains 120 questions, and the exam is scheduled for 3 hours. Negative marking is applied, and for each negative answer the 25% of the specified question marks will be deducted. The question patterns are objective and multiple choice type. Logical Reasoning, Verbal communication, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation are included in the syllabus. Students can apply for this exam online and offline.
Verbal communication section : English expression and usage of grammar are mainly checked. The ability to extract the required information from a variety of data is needed. Practice of communicative English Grammar and non- fiction prose is helpful for the preparation of this exam.
Quantitative Ability : Basic Mathematics including HCF and LCF, Decimals and Percentage, Roots and Power, Fractions, Elementary Trigonometry, Progressions, Elementary Geometry and Mensuration are covered in the syllabus. Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics are included in this section.
Logical Reasoning : Analytical Reasoning and Argument analysis are included in the syllabus.
Data Interpretation : In this section, the applicant's ability to understand data is judged. The candidate needs to understand data which is represented in different forms including histograms, graphs, pie charts and others. Data manipulation ability is required to score well in this section.
