National Defence Academy

The joint services academy of Indian armed forces is named as National Defence Academy abbreviated as NDA where the candidates have to serve the country in three services Army, Navy and Air force. A written examination is conducted by the UPSE to get select in National Defence Academy followed by extensive interview process. The formal establishment of National Defence Academy commissioned on the date December 7, 1954 and the ceremony held on the date January 16, 1955. NDA provides only a full time residential undergraduate program and awarded a degree (A Bachelor of Arts or A Bachelor of Science) after the completion of three years of study. The candidates have two alternates to study with – Science stream offers the cadets to study the subjects Physics, Chemistry, mathematics and Computer Science while the Humanities stream offers studies in the subjects Economics, Political Science and Geography.
The entrance examination of NDA has a total of 900 questions in two sections. The first test is of Mathematics and the second test is the General ability test. The second paper of NDA also divided in two categories. The first part contains questions of English and the second part has the questions of Physics, Chemistry, History, Geography and General Science. Both the sections of Mathematics and General Ability have the time duration of two and half hours. The candidates who qualify the written examination of National Defence Academy need to face the interview process. In the process of interview the candidates have to undergo with the intelligence test that is designed to assess the candidate's basic intelligence. Group discussions, outdoor group tasks are the part of the interview process. To judge the mental caliber of the candidates they are also asked to give a brief lecture on specific topics which includes in the interview process.
