The NMAT (Narsee Monjee Management Aptitude Test) is the compulsory entrance examination for admission to various MBA full time courses. This exam is specifically organized by the NMIMS (Narsess Monjee Institute of Management Studies), which is a deemed university. With the amalgamation of NIIMS and Pearson VUE India, the NMAT exams are conducted in varied cities of India, which includes Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal, Allahabad, Indore, Bhillai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Patna.
The NMAT is a computer based examination that can be attempted three times by the candidates. Besides this, a gap of 15 days between the two attempts is mandatory for the candidates appearing for the NMAT exam. All the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the examination but in the multiple attempts, the best scores (total and sectional) of the candidates are taken into consideration by the examiner. After qualifying for the NMAT exam, the candidates can take admission to different MBA full-time courses, which includes MBA (Core), MBA (Banking Management), MBA (Capital Markets), MBA (Pharmaceutical Management), MBA (HR) of NMIMS Mumbai and the PGDM courses of NMIMS Hyderabad and NMIMS Bangalore. The university declares the result of every exam after 15 days of the test attempt so as to give an idea to the aspirant about his/her performance in each attempt.
An applicant has the privilege to select the test date and slot as per convenience and availability. The minimum eligibility for appearing in the examination is that an aspirant should be a Bachelor degree holder with 50 % marks or an equivalent CGPA in the first attempt. Those who are appearing for the final year examination or waiting for results, are also eligible for the NMAT examination. Further, a minimum two or more years of work experience is the criterion, which has been set by the university for all its full-time management programs.
Registering for the NMAT examination
The candidates can register online for the exam by logging in to www.nmat.org.in and click to the Register for the NMAT button. An applicant is required to accept the terms and condition after clicking on the New User Registration button. To submit the registration form, the candidates can choose a password and give an appropriate answer to the hint questions, which will appear on the next screen and once the form is submitted, the screen will display your unique NMAT ID. The registration charges can be paid in cash or through a demand draft, credit card or debit card by the candidates. An e-mail is sent to the applicants with the allotted username and password after the submission of the registration form and fees. By logging in to www.pearsonvueindia.com/nmat/, the candidates can schedule their test on the desired date and at the location and as per availability.
